It also has a section on vocabulary acqusition. For as, Wilkins (1972, 111) states, "Without grammar, very little can be conveyed. Without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed."

It pays particular attention to Coxhead's (2000) Academic Word List (AWL). The AWL was prepared in order to help students expand their academic vocabulary, it consists of 570 'core academic' words.

In Competency Framework for Teachers of English for Academic Purposes, the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes (BALEAP) state that, "The teaching of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) has expanded with the increasing use of English for study, teaching and research in further and higher education institutions worldwide."
